The sources for some of the houses are from my recent scouting and recording trip with Memaw around town. We drove to her old streets and photographed houses both there and gone.
Some were visibly unchanged while others were more obscured by time and nature.
The house at 803 Olive street is still there. The humble place was home to my Memaw for a short time and later my Great-grandmother. And now someone else’s family calls it home. Set back from the street, shaded now by giant trees that cast dappled shadows, it still glows softly in the summer light.
It has aged the same as everyone else. There are still stories to tell.
This painting is #10 from Memaw’s collection.
